World Energy Demand to Rise 40% by 2030, Chevron’s Kirkland Says

Global energy demand will climb by 40 percent by 2030, says George Kirkland, Chevron Corp. upstream vice president for gas.

From 2010 to 2030, Chevron sees worldwide gas consumption rising by 60 trillion cubic feet a year. There are now 29 regasification projects for liquefied natural gas under construction globally, he said at the World Gas Conference in the Malaysian capital.

Chevron will shift its production portfolio to 40 percent gas by 2017 from 30 percent now, said Kirkland.
