Who's job is it to push for a better world ?

It's a day ending in ''Y'' so it must be a good point in time to talk about the things we care about.  Today it was our local MP Bill Wiggins turn (again!!). As an individual and as a business I feel it is vital to promote the values and issues that we stand for.

At Caplor we believe in contributing towards a vibrant and sustainable community.  A long debate can be had on the meaning of these words and the free and easy way in which they are sometimes used.  Just for a little clarity - I propose that sustainable is a long term (I mean in Earth terms not newspaper attention spans) position focused on a balanced, progressive approach to People, Planet and Profit

We attempt in our business to deliver on this vision using the values of improvement and inspiration.  In the day to day world this creates a route to action, specifically we are fortunate that our work attempts to deliver on three fundamental drivers to life -Shelter, Food and Energy.

Thus we arrive at today's thought.  Lobbying - Whats that and is it not someone elses job ?  Lets take a peek.

Lobbying (also lobby) is the act of attempting to influence decisions made by officials in the government, most often legislators or members of regulatory agencies. Lobbying is done by many different types of people and organised groups, including individuals in the private sector, corporations, business, fellow legislators or government officials, or advocacy groups (interest groups). Lobbyists may be among a legislator's constituencies, meaning a voter or bloc of voters within his or her electoral district, or not; they may engage in lobbying as a business, or not. Individuals and nonprofit organisations can also lobby as an act of volunteering or as a small part of their normal job.

Have you got a genuinely examined issue that you care about ?  If so, it looks like it could be your job to do something about it.  But to be use full it perhaps should be genuine, well placed and cognitive as well as a passionate belief.

So who's to busy to say they care then ??
