China expands solar PV goal

Solar has such great potential and has proven over the decades to provide reliable and replicable power.  Today I read of countries from Zimbabwe to Ukraine all really embracing this genuinely clean and once installed free energy.  China is another great example.

China's State Council has increased the nation's goal for solar photovoltaic (PV) generation to 10 GW annually from 2013 to 2015, to reach at least 35 GW by 2015. The new goal was published in a list of eight dictates on July 15th, 2013.

“As a sunrise industry with huge latent potential, and an area in which China holds a globally competitive strategic advantage, solar power is an important direction for the development of energy technology,” reads the statement.

To put this in context - In the UK we have a total capacity to date of approx. 2.5GW (ever) and a target of 20GW (but not set in stone) by 2020.

Go china !
