EU citizens back green companies

Are you trusted ?
A clear majority of people in the European Union are worried about the environmental impact of the goods they buy and would like to see more products display their green credentials, according to a major new survey by the European Commission.

The survey, interviewed more than 25,500 people across the bloc.

According to the results of the survey, 77 per cent of people in the EU are prepared to pay more for greener products if they trust the claims of the brand.

More than 80 per cent of people said they would like to find environmental information on product labels, while around half of people said they would like to see it on shop shelves or in product adverts.

Just over half of respondents said they trusted producers' claims about the green credentials of their products. However, most people also said they did not trust companies' sustainability reports and nearly 70 per cent of people thought companies should be forced to publish reports on their overall environmental performance as well as on the environmental impact of their products.
